[OTNG] Hestia Gilgamesh

Name - Hestia Gilgamesh

Alias - Gilga, Meshy, Rex (given by his best friend: Roseus).

Age - 19

Parents - Gilda and Garble.

Siblings - Treasure Trove (Oldest sister), Riot call / Valentino (older brother), Fire Hurricane (younger brother).

Talent/Cutie mark - As previously stated, a hybrid like them cannot possess a cutie mark due to being part dragon and part griffin.

Hestia was born with an increased natural resistance against dangerous elements such as lava and low air pressure at very high altitudes; allowing Hestia to easily fly through the skies even during the harshest of hurricanes or storms, and dive deeply within molten lava while using their big wings to propel themselves deeper into the raging active volcano. Normally immunity against lava wouldn’t be something exceptional among the dragons, but it was quite an impressive trait for a hybrid to acquire at hatching. Their feathers are all fireproof and under them lay tiny scales upon their skin that allow Hestia to have the deeper insulation against the deadly elements. They also possess of an exceptional physical strength and very sharp senses of vision, smell, and balance, allowing them to be very good hunters.

Nonetheless, despite the physical boost that they were born with, they do show a specific talent: Show business. Wherever the hybrid goes, or whatever Hestia is doing, they know exactly what to do to dazzle and entice everyone around them with some simple actions. They have a keen eye for decoration and how to improve any exhibition that is set to happen.

Physical -

• Hestia was born with rather large wings compared to either side of their species; for both dragons and griffins, their wingspan is simply gigantic once they reached adulthood.

• Their whole ”hair” is actually made of backward-facing feathers; two particularly long ones falling over one side of their face and having minor plumage under them to actually give more volume to his bangs.

• For a griffin hybrid, they have a very high percentage of scales covering their body, even if most of them aren’t visible due to being covered by the plumage.

• Their front legs look like simple eagle talons; however the scales covering said talons are much tougher than any griffin could grow, causing their front arms to be unable to grow any type of plumage or fur due to the natural armor that they have.

• Their beak is a very well balanced mix of a dragon and a griffin jaws too; the skin has completely turned to an extra layer of bone at a certain point, granting the bird-like look to their mouth.

• However, don’t be fooled, that beak packs a very potent serrated bite, as inside there lay many sharp formations that are supposed to be their “teeth”.

• Hestia’s wings are mostly composed of feathers, the main arms between the layers of feathers actually have quite a small area of coverage that is supported by actual skin membrane; when they shed their feathers, they’re unable to fly even with the exposed membrane.

• It’s immensely stupid to attack them by their back, as bone plaques lining up their tail are always sharpened up and cared for due to their vanity; the long curved alula claws they sport would be very uncomfortable to dislodge from your body once they latched upon your flesh too.

• Despite their feathery looking ears, Hestia possesses only openings by the side of their skull that are actual ears, and are covered by a special group of feathers; those external “ears” are inherited mostly due to the fins that their father possess, however they are useful to pick up changes in the wind and vibrations all around.

• Their hind legs are mostly that of a dragon, the only difference being the fur that covers their thighs.

• There is a group of golden feathers that are very reflective under Hestia’s neck, so they have a tendency to stick their beak high up in the air sometimes while looking at you (or not) to purposefully shine their luxurious ornamental feathers.

Short Bio/Personality - Their personality can’t be conveyed as anything less than dazzling and boisterous. The hybrid is easily cocky most of the time and has confidence to give and sell if they wished to do so, getting their way by overwhelming those around them or being just extremely determined and ambitious. Hestia can easily provoke reactions on those around, stirring up an uproar if necessary; but in reality they are actually pretty calm and laid back the great majority of time, only snapping and getting actually vengeful if you really push their buttons. Sometimes they have a tendency to be inattentive towards others feelings even if they didn’t do so by purpose, leading them to get a bit more humble and dropping their narcissistic side to make up for their mistakes with others. Nonetheless, be aware as Hestia doesn’t show such much of a sweet side very often, and if they end up noticing that you’re manipulating them into being considerate… You can consider your life badly compromised until you change countries or at least receive a year worth of vengeance right at your face, before they can either feel satisfied or lose interest upon your now could body.

Different from their older brother Riot, as soon as Gilda laid the egg within the future chick that would turn to be Hestia, Garble promptly made sure to actually keep an iron claw this time even if he wasn’t a very good father to begin with… Only due to the fact that the egg was strangely large compared to Riot’s, and the chick that was born from it was not only strange looking as they had oversized baby wings, but it also had an insatiable appetite, sparking up their father’s hope that this chick would be a strong one. As the speculations were right, Hestia grew rapidly during their youth, having an insatiable appetite and proving quite hard to keep feed. As they got more mature, Hestia never quite understood why their father was so pressing towards their older brother, causing Riot to actually run away from home (Hestia knew better than to believe such  a tale, but they decided to play along). Garble tried to act in not such a strict manner towards them for a little while as they could focus on abusing their big brother with violence instead; The dragon had higher hopes into the possibility that eventually Hestia could overthrow Ember… But this time around as the lightning strikes the same spot, Garble couldn’t quite lash out as much upon their offspring as Hestia had grown quite large and resilient through the years, so at any threat made towards them, they would actually stand up and push back with a very dangerous power.

Eventually their relationship with their father also grew much to thin to keep the hybrid even remotely interested in hanging around the dragon lands anymore despite their increasing popularity with the local dragons, causing Hestia to just abandon the place that they had called home for so many years, and hang around their mother for longer periods of time. But eventually the hybrid just decided to go with the flow and come and go as they please, sometimes hanging around griffinstone or the dragonlands, but mostly being around the country of equestria since their teenage years.  

Hestia doesn’t exactly has a fixed work, as they have a low interest in actually searching for something that could bore them out… But they do participate in some events or shows that actually have special effects, and love to watch said shows too. Right now they have a tendency to visit the crystal empire because of it’s dazzling looks and the local royalty, but they do like to drop by and pay a visit to their older brother Riot ever so often.

Relationships -

• Gilda: Their mother doesn’t actually enjoy to clearly show love, judging it to be a bit lame and too mushy, however she uses her own ways to make clear that Hestia has a special place in her heart. They travelled back and forth between griffinstone and the dragonlands quite often, allowing Gilda to get a fair share of time to actually interact with the growing griffin chick and actually teach them how to be a proper proud-predator instead of just an air headed dragon as she put it. They’re not super affectionate towards each other, but they do have a familiar love bond that keeps them close… Gilda mostly identifies Hestia as a male, calling them by a name she gave since their hatching but was never approved by their father; the name being: Gilgamesh. (Due to the golden reflective feathers on his neck and golden eyes.)

• Garble: They didn’t have a very bad relationship with their father when they were a child, but a soon as they reached their teens, Garble started trying to shove his expectations down their throat as he always had that sick and fruitless desire to see Ember being dethrone so that he could take over instead. But Hestia was having none of that and soon conflicts rose up between them too, however they were large and very capable to react to his father’s violent outbreaks, and after a very few months as those episodes increased, they left the dragonlands and their father… Hestia rarely visits Garble. Their father picked their current name, having thought that the chick was a girl for the longest time, (much to Garble’s dismay.)

• Roseus Pie: Once the hybrid left their homelands to actually venture through equestria, they stumbled upon a curious little foal in ponyville, that didn’t seemed at all intimidated by their looks… They soon started approached the teenage foal that looked so much older due to their size, but discovered that the pony was actually the same age as them; Roseus was his name, and that colt seemed to have a tendency to explore things that were either considered dangerous or disgusting by other ponies, having quite the “exquisite” culinary talent as he started to use natural “ingredients” masterfully in his increasingly odd recipes. Hestia quickly grew a habit to follow the earth pony around everywhere he went; sharing tiny adventures, giggles, scheming pranks upon others and quickly growing attached as best friends, despite Hestia’s ability to always get under Roseus’ skin; However as both grew through teenager years together, their relationship might have turned a bit more colorful once they both started to really share some deep, intimate secrets.

Facts -

• They are an avid meat eater, being almost completely carnivore most of the time.

• Hestia loves to dress up with very fancy clothing and jewels, their weakness is regal accessories, or at least things that look regal.

• Their favorite past time is lava bathing.

• The hybrid is very vain and spends a great deal of their time grooming and preening, specially those feathers under their neck.

• Hestia has enough strength on their talons to easily crush skulls.

• They have a tendency to act very instinctively sometimes, growling, snarling or even screeching if you manage to piss them off enough.

• They are incredibly comfortable at stages, and rarely feel social anxiety.

• However the hybrid gets easily annoyed by boring ponies, specially the ones that may judge them by their appearance.

• Due to their feathers being slightly stiff and designed to withstand fire and high heats, they have a bit of insulation against liquids as water as well… Even if the hybrid is not particularly fond of swimming.

• They are very territorial and possessive of their closest friends.
